Coming from Utah, as I did, much of our attention there was focused on the pervasive influence of the Mormon (LDS) Church on the state as a whole, and the accompanying conservatism, particularly among the state's elected representatives (think Orrin Hatch). Here, the prevailing liberalism feels like a breath of fresh air to me (it's actually a major reason why I moved here. That and the boating and fishing!) But no place is perfect, not even paradise, so ---- again, what pushes your buttons in Bellngham? By the way, I will be at the auction on Saturday so if you have questions about the mailing list feel free to find me.
